Worked example

For 16 guests, we seated 16 of 16 guests across 3 tables, kept all 3 households together, put the pair who must stay apart at different tables. The wedding party, Isla Bramley, Rory Pemberton, Tamsin Coyle, Fergus Lyle, sit at the top table.

Your guests

16 of 40 guests. Give people the same household name and they arrive together. Leave the couple out: two seats at the top table are kept for you.

Paste a list of names

Paste a column from a spreadsheet. A second column, or a comma, is their household.

Your plan is drawn below the rules and tables.

In Fizz

What Fizz does with this

This tool seats a list. The Fizz seating planner seats your real guests from their RSVPs, keeps them in step as answers change, and gets the plan into their hands.

The seating planner just after Arrange for me, with the maid of honour, best man and a bridesmaid at the top table in dark chairs, and a message reading Seated 62 guests that lists who did not reach the top table, with an Undo button.

Arrange for me, with the wedding party at the top

One tap seats everyone who has said yes. The maid of honour, best man and bridesmaids go to the top table first, and anyone who did not fit is listed with the reason. You can undo it in one tap and drag anyone to fine-tune.

The seating plan with the wedding party at the top table in dark chairs, each labelled by name with a small role icon, and a key listing Guest, Wedding party, Maid of honour, Best man, Bridesmaid and Groomsman.

Wedding party roles on every chair

Give someone a role and their chair is marked with a small icon, with a key beneath the plan. Roles are set once on the guest list and follow the guest.

A guest's phone with a name typed into the Find your seat search box, the plan zoomed to Table 2 with her chair highlighted, and a card listing who sits on her left, on her right and across from her.

Guests find their own seat

On their phone a guest types their name and the plan zooms to their chair, with who sits on their left, on their right and across from them.

The seating assistant answering who still needs a seat and proposing the change, with an Apply button.

A seating assistant, and it tells you it is AI

Ask it in plain words who still needs a seat, or to seat a family near the top table. It is an AI assistant and says so before you type anything. It only suggests: nothing changes until you tap Apply, and every change comes with an Undo. It comes with the Celebrate and Champagne plans.

A table's details: size, seats, and each seated guest with their chosen dish.

The caterer sees what everyone is eating

Open any table to see its seats and each seated guest with the dish they chose on their RSVP, so the kitchen and the top table always agree.

Questions couples ask

How does it decide who sits where?

It follows fixed rules, not a guess. Guests in the same household are seated together, sit-together pairs are joined, keep-apart pairs are never put at the same table, and the wedding party goes to the top table first, in order of honour. It fills the emptiest table it can, so the room stays balanced. The same list always gives the same plan.

What happens if it cannot seat everyone?

It says so, and why. A household of twelve cannot sit at a table of ten, and a keep-apart rule can leave nowhere to go. Those guests are listed under Not seated with the reason, and you can change a table style, a rule or a household and arrange again.

Do I need to add the two of us?

No. When there is a top table, two of its eight seats are kept for the couple, so the wedding party gets six. Add your bridesmaids, best man and the rest, and tag their roles.

Is my guest list sent anywhere?

No. The plan is worked out in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us or saved. Close the page and it is gone, so print the floor plan or copy the tables if you want to keep it.

Is this AI?

No. This tool uses fixed seating rules and no AI. The Fizz seating planner also has an optional seating assistant, which is AI and tells you so before you type anything.
